Educational activities focused on
sustainability at each of the AGS institutions have increased since
the inception of the AGS. Part of the AGS mission is to serve the
partner institutions as each university develops its own research
and teaching program in the areas of the environment and
sustainability. Education and outreach activities of the AGS have
contributed to the partner institutions' programs in a number of
ways, including participation of students at the Annual and
Technical Meetings, establishing local chapters of the World Student
Community for Sustainable Development, and the increasing number
of students and alumni who have participated in the Youth
Encounter on Sustainability (YES). Joint educational activities
undertaken by AGS member institutiosn include YES and the Delivering
Research Results project.
AGS institutions are also
actively reviewing the state of sustainability education around the
globe. The 2004 Interim Report describes current models in
sustainability education at institutions of higher education. The
report can be found on the Education
Reports page. |
