Youth Encounter on Sustainabilitly - YES

Inspired by a set of questions arising from the gap between the 20th century roots of Agenda 21 and the potential for putting it into action in the 21st century, YES brings together a diverse group of motivated graduate and upper level undergraduate students from around the world to intensive and stimulating discussions on sustainable development. Together, YES participants examine expert knowledge, share diverse cultural and disciplinary experiences, collaborate in multi-disciplinary working groups, and define their roles as future academics and scientists in the process of sustainable development.

The AGS established YES as part of its dedication to educate a new generation of leaders committed to meeting the challenges of sustainable development. After the program's resounding success in the last years attracting highly diverse groups of students from all over the world, YES is continuing with two two-week sessions in July and August in Braunwald, Switzerland under the leadership of the ETHags Center for Sustainability at ETH Zurich.

Applications for each summer's YES sessions are generally due in March. Check the YES Website for current schedule information and further program details. Full reports on recent sessions are available on our YES Reports page.
