Delivering Research Results Project

During the 1998 AGS annual meeting, students from the partner universities presented their view of the AGS at a session called “Students’ Challenge.” One of the recommendations was to place a major emphasis on the development of educational and curriculum materials, in order to complement the AGS research portfolio.

One of the responses to these comments was the Delivering Research Results Project. This continuing initiative is currently using AGS research as a resource for educational materials precisely shaped to meet the needs of various members of the academic community and general public. The DRR project reviews AGS research from an educational perspective to develop materials that will be of greatest use to university level educators and students.

DRR is creating a web-based resource to engage the interest of undergraduates in sustainability research, and support their coursework and research. This web resource will also target instructors looking for information and curriculum aids on sustainability to supplement their teaching of undergraduates.

The first tasks of this project are to investigate the resources available from AGS research, and evaluate the appropriate educational adaptations. The project is also deciding on priority areas for content that correspond with priority areas of research for the AGS. The project has created a prototype web site design and has been testing this design with undergraduate and instructor audiences. A pilot site of educational resources will be launched at the AGS Annual Meeting in March 2005.
